Startups, e-commerce companies may give fresh faces a miss this year

Leading startups and ecommerce companies in India may significantly draw back from campus hiring from the Class of 2024 compared to last year, as a lack of visibility amid a prolonged funding crunch, layoffs and various other belt-tightening measures are prompting companies to narrow their hiring funnel, said recruiting managers and investors.
Anshuman Das, CEO, Longhouse Consulting, said: “Given the uncertain macroeconomic condition and funding winter, it is too early for startups to say what could be their talent demand next year and they will be very cautious in hiring freshers in 2023 as they are not readily deployable.” That apart, the fall in attrition, the ongoing layoffs may lead to a major pullback by startups from campuses this year, he added.
