Women Leaders in Digital Tech Functions in Indian Unicorn Startups

This report explores women CXOs and tech leaders across 121 Indian unicorn startups, highlighting hiring trends, functional distribution, and career paths. We identified 91 women leaders in total, with 72 holding key tech leadership roles featured in this analysis.

What stands out? A significant 79% of these leaders occupy mid-senior roles, but only 7% have broken into the C-suite, highlighting a clear leadership gap. Product roles lead with 50% representation, followed by Engineering at 33%, while AI and Data Science remain underrepresented, at only 4%.

Additionally, 40% of women leaders in unicorn startups have transitioned from non-startup backgrounds, indicating the ecosystem is open to diverse professional experiences.
